Quietly released in mid-2025, Rolex added an unexpected new addition to their Submariner line… a desk clock!
This is an especially notable update to the Rolex catalog, as it is their first clock for public sale. Previously, Rolex exclusively made clocks for special events (such as the Wimbledon), their retail stores, and VIP customers or employees.
This will be their first desk clock created for the public to purchase!
This clock will run you for about the same price of a new Submariner wristwatch, around $10,250 retail. But it has some major differences from the original model.
Submariner Date Desk Clock Versus Submariner Date Watch
The Rolex Submariner wristwatch is one of the most popular dive watches. It is an automatic watch that is waterproof up to 1,000 feet. It is also tested to the highest time-keeping standards, as all Rolex watches are.
The Rolex Date Desk Clock (ref. 909010LN), however, will notably not read “300m/1000ft” or “Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified” on the dial. This means that the clock will not be a waterproof model, nor will it have the same timekeeping precision.
The clock, instead, runs on a quartz movement and will rely on batteries to run.
Furthermore, the Submariner desk clock’s time is not adjusted by a crown. Instead, the time is set internally by removing the clock from its base.
It is also crafted from 316L stainless steel, rather than Rolex's in-house Oystersteel. And while it also feature a Cerachrom bezel, it will not be rotatable and will be fixed.
Submariner Date Desk Clock Features
The Submariner Desk Clock will feature a familiar scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and cyclops lens. It will also have the usual “Rolex” engraved on the rehaut, along with its own unique serial number.
The clock's case back is curved and will sits in a ring-shaped base, allowing for the user to set the watch at any desired angle.
The clock will indicate a low battery when the seconds hands start ticking at two-second intervals, instead of the normal smooth movement.
Furthermore, the hours and hands on the clock will glow in the dark!
Submariner Date Desk Clock Market Value
Like with almost every new hot Rolex release, waitlists are already forming for collectors looking to get their hands on this piece.
Very few are in circulation, as (at the time of writing) the clock is only being offered to VIP clients. In fact, not many are even available on the secondary market! We could only find one listing on the internet, selling the clock for $15,000!
The collector value of this item will be significant, as it is the first desk watch of its kind offered by Rolex.
However, time will tell if Rolex buyers will create a high demand for this piece!
Regardless, it is a fun and practical addition to any Rolex collection.
