Audemars Piguet Royal Oak jewelry: What is it?

The short facts on the Royal Oak Joaillerie collection.

Audemars Piguet launched its first standalone Royal Oak jewelry collection today, October 2, 2026, in Paris. It's called Royal Oak Joaillerie, it has 19 pieces across three lines, and none of them tell time.

The idea is the Royal Oak bracelet with the watch removed. Same tapering links, same studs, same mix of brushed tops and polished chamfers Gérald Genta drew in 1972, worn as cuffs, chokers, necklaces and earrings. AP dropped it in the middle of Paris Fashion Week, which tells you exactly who it wants to reach.

Two pieces carry a price we can quote. The Frosted Gold cuff, ref. ROA.BCT.161, retails at $57,800. The Frosted Gold choker, ref. ROA.COL.162, retails at $93,900. Audemars Piguet hasn't put prices on its own site, and the high jewelry pieces are unpriced and made to order.

The project started with CEO Ilaria Resta stacking three Frosted Gold Royal Oak Mini prototypes on one wrist. A colleague told her she was wearing them as jewelry, AP's Meyrin workshop built three watchless Mini bracelets, and the brand ran a co-design session called Éclat with 12 women in Hong Kong in November 2024. Nathalie Barzilay co-designed the final 19 pieces.

The short version

Audemars Piguet turned the Royal Oak bracelet into jewelry. Here's what matters if you're buying, owning, or just curious.

  • Royal Oak Joaillerie launched in Paris on October 2, 2026, with 19 pieces and no watch movements.
  • Three lines: Frosted Gold with three cuffs and three chokers, Dream of Joux with gem-set high jewelry, and Risoud Eclipse with black titanium and sugarloaf emeralds.
  • The Frosted Gold cuff, ref. ROA.BCT.161, retails at $57,800. The Frosted Gold choker, ref. ROA.COL.162, retails at $93,900. That's about $63,400 and $103,100 after Los Angeles sales tax.
  • Sold through selected AP boutiques and AP Houses, Los Angeles included. The high jewelry pieces are made to order.
  • The catch: branded gold jewelry resells far below a Royal Oak watch. Buy it to wear.

Royal Oak Joaillerie, all three lines

Frosted Gold, Dream of Joux, and Risoud Eclipse, piece by piece.

Frosted Gold is the line most buyers will actually see in a boutique. Dream of Joux and Risoud Eclipse are high jewelry, built one at a time.

Frosted Gold cuff and choker

Three cuffs and three chokers, each in 18k yellow, pink, or white gold. AP named them Autumn Mist, Spring Frost, and Summer Haze, and every one closes with the octagonal Royal Oak clasp.

The finish is the same Frosted Gold AP has used on Royal Oak watches since 2016, developed with Florentine jeweler Carolina Bucci. The gold is tapped with a diamond-tipped tool until the surface looks like fine sand, while the studs and chamfers stay mirror polished. The cuff is wide and heavy-looking, like a Royal Oak bracelet stretched tall. The choker runs smaller links in a slimmer band.

We've had plenty of Frosted Gold Royal Oaks across the counter. The hammered surface hides light desk wear better than polished gold, but the raised points flatten after years of daily use, and a local polisher can't put the texture back. That's a trip to Audemars Piguet. A cuff takes more knocks than a watch case, so expect it to show its age sooner.

Dream of Joux

This is the high jewelry line, named for the Vallée de Joux where AP has been based since 1875. The headline piece is a tie-style necklace in anodized blue titanium and 18k white gold. One side is titanium links snow-set with 1,670 blue sapphires. The other is a run of 42 pear-shaped diamonds at about 1.5 carats each, roughly 63 carats, plus a 5 carat and a 3 carat pear at the ends.

Matching drop earrings add eight more pear diamonds, about 15 carats in total. Two more pairs in 18k pink gold use tsavorites and topazes, or pink sapphires, tourmalines, amethysts and tanzanites.

The cuffs are where the color lives. Sunburst is yellow gold radiating out from an orange spessartite cabochon through spessartites and yellow, orange and pink sapphires. Blue Moon is white gold with sapphires and two shades of blue topaz. Tree of Life is pink gold with 203 cognac sapphires and more than 590 tsavorites. Frozen Lake, Blueberries and Edelweiss complete the set, and AP calls Sunburst and Blue Moon unique pieces.

Risoud Eclipse

Named for the Risoud Forest above the valley. It's a necklace and a cuff in black PVD titanium and 18k white gold, each set with sugarloaf emeralds inside diamond halos. Five emeralds on the necklace, about 16.5 carats. Three on the cuff, about 12 carats.

Against blackened metal the green looks lit from inside. It's also the piece most likely to show wear. Once a PVD coating is scraped through, it can't be spot repaired at a bench.

The numbers Los Angeles, October 2026

Royal Oak Joaillerie price and out-the-door cost

Retail, Los Angeles sales tax, and what resale looks like today.

The Frosted Gold cuff costs $63,435.50 out the door in Los Angeles, and the choker costs $103,055.25. There's no resale market yet, so plan on wearing whatever you buy.

Royal Oak Joaillerie Frosted Gold price

Cuff ROA.BCT.161, retail$57,800
Cuff after Los Angeles sales tax$63,435.50
Choker ROA.COL.162, retail$93,900
Choker after Los Angeles sales tax$103,055.25
Secondary marketNot yet established

Retail per Audemars Piguet boutique pricing as of October 2, 2026 [confirm source]. Tax at the 9.75 percent City of Los Angeles rate. Dream of Joux and Risoud Eclipse prices are not published.

Here's the math we'd walk a client through. A $57,800 cuff picks up $5,635.50 in sales tax. To break even on a resale, someone would have to pay you $63,435.50 for a used piece.

Branded gold jewelry almost never does that. Even the Cartier Love bracelet, the most liquid branded bracelet in the trade, gets bought well under retail. Royal Oak Joaillerie has no auction history at all yet.

The floor on the Frosted Gold pieces is the gold itself. AP hasn't published weights, so we can't run melt value yet [gold weight per piece to be confirmed]. Once we know the weight, the floor becomes a simple number.

For roughly the choker's $93,900, you're in Frosted Gold Royal Oak watch territory [confirm current US retail of the Royal Oak Mini Frosted Gold 67630 and Royal Oak 34 Frosted Gold 77450]. A watch has an established resale market. The choker doesn't, yet.

Market view AP strategy

What the Royal Oak jewelry collection means for AP

Why a watch brand built a jewelry line, and what it does to the watches.

AP is selling the Royal Oak's design to people who were never going to buy a Royal Oak watch. It doesn't change the value of the watch you already own.

Jewelry isn't new for the company. AP set up its own jewelry workshop in the 1980s, launched Haute Joaillerie watches in 2013, and made the gem-set Diamond Trilogy pieces from 2015 to 2017. Jacqueline Dimier, who drew the first women's Royal Oak in 1976, also designed AP's early jewelry. What's new is a whole collection with no movement in it.

The timing makes sense. Gold is expensive, and wealthy buyers have been shifting money from fashion into jewelry. Cartier, Bulgari and Van Cleef & Arpels make serious money selling metal and stones with no movement supply chain to manage. AP owns one design everybody recognizes, so putting it on a cuff is the obvious move.

For Royal Oak owners, nothing changes on the watch side. Watch buyers set what a 15510ST trades at, and a cuff in a boutique case won't move that number. If anything, seeing the bracelet sold on its own reminds people what they're paying for when they buy the watch.

The risk sits with AP. A jewelry line lives or dies on whether people still wear it in ten years. One that flops ends up as discounted stock, and that's a bad look for a brand that sells on scarcity.

Risk flag

Buying a Royal Oak Joaillerie piece to improve your odds on a Royal Oak watch allocation is a gamble. Audemars Piguet has never said jewelry purchases count toward watch allocations, and we wouldn't spend $57,800 testing it.

Our take Who it suits

Should you buy Audemars Piguet Royal Oak jewelry?

The piece we'd pick, and who should skip the whole collection.

If you buy one, buy the yellow gold Frosted Gold cuff. It's the cheapest way in, it's the closest to the watch that made the design famous, and it's the piece you'll actually wear on a Tuesday.

Yellow because frosted yellow gold has the most warmth and reads as Royal Oak from across a room. Frosted white gold can pass for steel at a distance, which is a strange thing to pay $57,800 for. Pink gold is a fine second choice.

Wear it on the opposite wrist from your watch, or next to a gold Royal Oak if you want the full matching set. A wide gold cuff and a 41mm watch on the same wrist will knock into each other all day.

Who should look elsewhere

Anyone buying for resale. Branded jewelry loses value the moment it leaves the boutique, and there's no auction record yet to tell you where this collection lands.

Anyone choosing between the choker and a watch. For about the choker's price you can own a Frosted Gold Royal Oak, which you'll wear every day and can sell easily when you want out.

Anyone who wants a Dream of Joux or Risoud Eclipse piece with no history at AP. These are made to order through the boutiques, and the boutique will want to know you before it builds one.

Yes. On October 2, 2026, Audemars Piguet launched Royal Oak Joaillerie, a 19-piece collection of cuffs, chokers, necklaces and earrings based on the Royal Oak watch bracelet. The brand has made gem-set watches and occasional jewelry for decades, and this is its first dedicated jewelry collection with no watch movement.

How much is the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold cuff?

The Royal Oak Joaillerie Frosted Gold cuff, ref. ROA.BCT.161, retails at $57,800 as of October 2026. In Los Angeles, the 9.75 percent sales tax brings it to $63,435.50. The matching Frosted Gold choker, ref. ROA.COL.162, retails at $93,900.

How much does the Dream of Joux necklace cost?

Audemars Piguet has not published a price for the Dream of Joux necklace or any piece in the Dream of Joux and Risoud Eclipse high jewelry lines as of October 2026. These pieces are made to order through selected AP boutiques and AP Houses, and pricing is given privately.

Do Royal Oak Joaillerie pieces have a watch in them?

No. Every piece in Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak Joaillerie collection is pure jewelry. The cuffs, chokers, necklaces and earrings use the Royal Oak bracelet's links, studs and octagonal clasp, with no dial or movement.

Where can I buy Royal Oak Joaillerie in Los Angeles?

Will Audemars Piguet Royal Oak jewelry hold its value?

Probably not the way a Royal Oak watch does. Branded gold jewelry usually resells well under retail, and as of October 2026 there is no secondary market for Royal Oak Joaillerie at all. Buy a piece because you want to wear it.

What is Audemars Piguet Frosted Gold?

Frosted Gold is a hammered finish Audemars Piguet developed with Florentine jeweler Carolina Bucci in 2016. A diamond-tipped tool taps the gold surface thousands of times, giving it a fine, sparkling texture. It appears on Royal Oak watches and now on the Royal Oak Joaillerie cuffs and chokers.

Who designed the Royal Oak Joaillerie collection?

Audemars Piguet developed Royal Oak Joaillerie in house and co-designed it with Nathalie Barzilay. The pieces are based on the Royal Oak bracelet that Gérald Genta designed in 1972.
