WatchGuys Warranty
Every pre-owned Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, and luxury watch we sell is backed by a mechanical warranty, serviced entirely in-house at our Los Angeles headquarters.
Modern watches
Watches manufactured in 2010 or later. Full mechanical movement coverage from your date of purchase.
Watches from 1980 to 2009
Older movements have seen more years of wear, so we cover them for one honest year, inspected to the same standard.
Your warranty never leaves our bench
Most independent dealers send warranty repairs to outside service centers. WatchGuys does not. The watchmaker who repairs your movement is held to the same standard used before your watch was ever listed for sale.
Faster turnaround
Your watch is not sitting in a third-party queue. It goes straight to our Los Angeles bench.
Consistent standards
The same certified technicians who inspected, timed, and pressure tested your watch handle every repair.
Direct communication
Speak with our team by phone, text, or email throughout your repair. No call centers, no ticket numbers.
What is covered, and what is not
Our limited service warranty covers mechanical defects in the internal movement of the watch, as determined by WatchGuys' certified technicians. It applies to the original U.S. purchaser only and is non-transferable.
Covered
- Mechanical defects in the internal movement of the watch under normal wear
- Repair or replacement of affected internal components, free of charge for parts and labor
- 2 years of coverage on watches manufactured in 2010 or later
- 1 year of coverage on watches manufactured between 1980 and 2009
Repair or replacement is at WatchGuys' sole discretion. Shipping to and from our facility is the customer's responsibility, and we are not responsible for loss or damage in transit.
Not covered / voids the warranty
- Unauthorized repairs or modifications by any third party without written approval
- External damage including impacts, dents, scratches, cracked crystals, and water damage
- Quartz watches
- Vintage watches manufactured in 1979 or earlier, sold without warranty due to age
- Loss, theft, or misplacement
- Improper use or exposure to extreme environments
- Timekeeping variations within accepted mechanical tolerances
Mechanical watches may gain or lose time within accepted tolerances. Minor deviations in accuracy do not constitute a defect.

Luxury watch warranty FAQ
How long is the WatchGuys warranty?
Two years from the original date of purchase for watches manufactured in 2010 or later, and one year for watches manufactured between 1980 and 2009. Vintage watches from 1979 or earlier are sold without warranty. Coverage applies to the original purchaser only and is non-transferable.
Why do older watches get a shorter warranty?
Movements manufactured between 1980 and 2009 have simply seen more years of wear, and parts availability can be more limited. A one-year term lets us stand behind these watches honestly while accounting for their age. Every older watch still goes through the same in-house inspection before sale.
What does the warranty cover?
Mechanical defects in the internal movement of the watch under normal wear. If a covered defect arises, our in-house watchmakers repair or replace the affected components at no charge for parts or labor.
Does the warranty cover my used Rolex?
Yes. Every mechanical pre-owned watch we sell, including used Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Omega, and other brands, is covered by our mechanical warranty. Watches manufactured in 2010 or later receive 2 years of coverage, and watches manufactured between 1980 and 2009 receive 1 year. Vintage watches from 1979 or earlier and quartz watches are excluded.
Is water damage covered?
No. Every watch we sell is pressure tested by our in-house watchmakers before it leaves our facility, so you can be confident your watch meets its water resistance rating on the day of purchase. Water damage that occurs after delivery is the result of misuse, such as swimming with a watch not rated for it, operating the crown or pushers underwater, or wearing the watch after an unauthorized third party has opened the case. Like all external damage, it is not covered under this warranty. If you wear your watch in or around water regularly, we recommend having the water resistance retested once a year.
Can my local watchmaker service it without voiding the warranty?
No. Any repair, alteration, or opening of the watch by a third party without written authorization from WatchGuys voids the warranty. Contact us first, in every case.
My watch runs a few seconds fast per day. Is that a defect?
Usually not. Mechanical movements naturally gain or lose a small amount of time each day within industry-accepted tolerances. Minor deviations are normal and are not covered. If your watch is running significantly outside tolerance, contact us and we will take a look.
Who performs the warranty repairs?
Our own certified watchmakers at the WatchGuys headquarters in Los Angeles. We do not outsource warranty work.
Do I pay for shipping on a warranty claim?
Shipping to and from our facility is the customer's responsibility. We strongly recommend fully insured shipping. Local customers can drop off by appointment at our Downtown LA boutique instead.
Is the warranty transferable if I sell my watch?
No. The warranty applies only to the original purchaser named on the invoice.
What if my watch has a problem right after delivery?
If your watch arrives faulty or not as described, that falls under our return policy rather than the warranty. Contact us within 3 calendar days of delivery. See our Return Policy for details.
Register your watch
Registering links your purchase to your warranty record and speeds up any future claim. It takes less than a minute.
