The Rolex service cost is public for the first time
What Rolex published, and the numbers most owners need.
A complete Rolex service in the US now costs $660, $770 or $940 for a modern watch, depending on the model, and Rolex has put the full Rolex service cost list on its own website for the first time.
Older watches cost more. Five-digit references run $990 to $1,430. Four-digit vintage pieces run $1,650 to $8,810. Polishing is a separate line, $170 on modern and classic watches and $330 on vintage.
The page went live on Rolex.com in late October 2026. Until then, the only way to learn what a service would cost was to hand your watch over and wait for an estimate. Dealers quoted ranges from memory and owners got surprised at pickup. For the base price, at least, the guessing is over.
Every figure below comes from Rolex's official US servicing prices, verified November 4, 2026. Other countries have their own lists. The UK list, for example, starts at £550 including VAT.
The short version
Rolex now prices a complete service by reference era, six, five or four digits, and by how complicated the watch is.
- Modern six-digit Rolex: $660 for time and date models, $770 for the Submariner, GMT-Master II and other sport models, $940 for the Daytona, Sky-Dweller and other complicated models.
- Classic five-digit Rolex: $990, $1,210 or $1,430 for the same three groups, roughly 50 to 57 percent more than the modern equivalent.
- Vintage four-digit Rolex: $1,650 to $8,810, and the most collectible references go only to the Restoration Atelier in Geneva.
- Polishing is optional, $170 on modern and classic watches and $330 on vintage.
- Rolex quotes a minimum of four to six weeks. Plan for longer if parts are needed.
- The catch: these are starting prices. Case and bracelet repairs and most replacement parts are billed on top.
Rolex service cost by model, the full 2026 price list
Every model Rolex lists, grouped the way Rolex groups them.
Find your reference number, count the digits, then find your model. That is your base price.
The reference number is engraved between the lugs at 12 o'clock and printed on your warranty card. Letter suffixes like LN do not count. A Submariner 126610LN is a six-digit modern watch. A Submariner 16610 is a five-digit classic. A Submariner 5513 is a four-digit vintage piece. Same name, three different bills.

Modern models, six-digit references
| Price | Models covered |
|---|---|
| $660 | 1908, Air-King, Date, Datejust, Datejust II, Datejust Turn-O-Graph, Day-Date, Day-Date II, Explorer, Lady-Datejust, Land-Dweller, Milgauss, Oyster Perpetual |
| $770 | Explorer II, GMT-Master II, Rolex Deepsea, Sea-Dweller, Submariner, Submariner Date, Yacht-Master |
| $940 | Cosmograph Daytona, Deepsea Challenge, Padellone, Sky-Dweller, Yacht-Master II |

| $990 | Classic, Date, Datejust, Datejust Turn-O-Graph, Day-Date, Dual Time, Explorer, Lady-Datejust, Moonphase, Pearlmaster, Oyster Perpetual, Special Edition, Time, Vintage |
| $1,210 | Explorer II, GMT-Master, GMT-Master II, Sea-Dweller, Submariner, Submariner Date, Yacht-Master |
| $1,430 | Cosmograph Daytona |
| $170 | Optional polishing and satin-finishing of the case and bracelet |
Rolex lists several Cellini-era names, such as Time, Dual Time and Moonphase, without the Cellini prefix. Cellini models are priced by the actual number of digits in the reference.
Here is the line that caught every dealer's eye. A 1990s Submariner 16610 costs $1,210 to service. A brand-new Daytona costs $940. A five-digit Datejust is $990 against $660 for the current one, and a Daytona 16520 is $1,430 against $940 for a 126500LN.
Rolex has not said why. Our read is simple. Older calibers take more bench time, their parts are harder to source, and Rolex would rather you owned a current watch.
Vintage models, four-digit references
| Price | Models covered |
|---|---|
| $1,650 | Cellini, Date, Datejust, Day-Date, Explorer, GMT-Master, Lady Oyster, Oyster Perpetual, Milgauss, Sea-Dweller, Submariner, other than the references named below |

| $330 | Optional polishing and satin-finishing of the case and bracelet |
Only the Rolex Restoration Atelier in Geneva works on the $3,850, $5,500 and $8,810 references. Source: Rolex.com, verified November 4, 2026.
Read the $5,500 list closely. It is a roll call of the references collectors fight over, from the Paul Newman era Cosmographs to the big-crown Submariners. A Datejust 1601 or a Submariner 5513 falls in the standard $1,650 group because neither is named on the higher lists.
What the Rolex service cost actually covers
What the list price buys, and what lands on the bill anyway.
On modern and classic watches the price covers a full movement service, a water resistance test, and a defined set of small parts. Everything else is billed separately.
Included on modern and classic watches
- Labor to service the movement and test water resistance.
- Screws, springs and wheels.
- Lubricants, gaskets and tubes.
- Acrylic crystals.
- Bracelet sizing, which Rolex does free.
- The written estimate, also free.
Not included
- Repairs to the case and bracelet.
- Any spare part outside the list above. On a modern watch that can mean a sapphire crystal, a bezel insert, a crown or bracelet parts.
- Polishing, unless you ask for it.
Read that list with a sport watch in mind. A Submariner with a cracked bezel insert or a loose, stretched bracelet will not leave the counter at $770. Rolex has not published prices for individual parts, so ask for a line-item estimate and read every line before you approve it.
Vintage is a different deal
On four-digit watches the base price covers the movement service, movement wear parts when Rolex has them, plus lubricants, gaskets and tubes. Any work on the case, bracelet, dial or hands is excluded and quoted separately.
Risk flag on vintage estimates
Vintage estimates are not free. Decline the work and Rolex invoices a $280 analysis fee. Rolex can also refuse a standard overhaul based on condition and offer a Restoration estimate instead, issued from Geneva within three months, with a $2,200 analysis fee if you say no. Decide what you are willing to spend just to hear the number before you hand over a collectible four-digit watch.

How a Rolex service works, step by step
What happens to your watch between the counter and the bench.
You drop the watch at any Official Rolex Jeweler or Rolex service center, approve a written estimate, and get it back with a two-year international service guarantee.
- Drop-off. Every Official Rolex Jeweler and Rolex affiliate can take a watch in for service. Staff note what you want done, then send the watch to a watchmaker.
- Assessment and estimate. A watchmaker examines the watch and writes an estimate. Nothing starts until you approve it.
- Teardown. The bracelet comes off and the movement comes out with the dial and hands still fitted. Movement, case and bracelet then follow separate paths.
- Movement overhaul. The movement is fully dismantled and every part is examined. Anything that no longer meets Rolex standards is replaced. Parts are cleaned in an ultrasonic bath, dried, reassembled and lubricated, and the watchmaker makes the first precision adjustments.
- Case and bracelet. The case is completely taken apart. Polishing and satin-finishing happen only if you asked for them. The case is reassembled with new seals and tested for water resistance.
- Casing and timing. Dial and hands go back on, the movement is cased, and precision is checked and adjusted again. With the case back screwed down, the watch runs a Rolex test lasting at least 24 hours.
- Water test and final control. The watch is pressure-tested in water, the bracelet is refitted, and a watchmaker does a final functional and cosmetic check.
- Return. The watch comes back in a protective pouch with an international two-year service guarantee covering parts and labor.
Keep the Rolex service card that comes back with it. When a Rolex comes across our counter, the service card is the first paper we ask for after the warranty card, because it shows what was done and when.
The guarantee has limits. It excludes damage from accidents or mishandling, and any work by someone outside the Rolex network, or any non-Rolex part, voids it.
How long a Rolex service takes
The official minimum, and what to actually plan around.
Rolex's own answer is a minimum of four to six weeks for a complete overhaul, depending on the condition of the watch. Plan for more.
That figure is the floor. It assumes the watch needs nothing unusual and that you approve the estimate quickly. Owners commonly report six to twelve weeks once shipping between the retailer and the service center, parts orders and holiday backlogs are added.
| Watch type | What Rolex says | What we tell clients to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Modern six-digit | Minimum four to six weeks | Six to eight weeks |
| Classic five-digit | Minimum four to six weeks | Six to ten weeks, more if parts are back-ordered |
| Vintage four-digit | Timing set after analysis | Get a completion date in writing |
| Restoration Atelier | Estimate issued within three months | Several months before work even starts |
The planning column is WatchGuys guidance based on reported turnaround, not a Rolex commitment. As of November 2026.
Three ways to shorten the wait
- Approve the estimate the day it arrives. Nothing moves while it sits unapproved.
- Skip polishing if you do not need it. Refinishing is one more step at the bench.
- Avoid dropping off in the weeks before the holidays, when service queues are longest.

Is the Rolex service cost worth it? Our take
Who should pay Rolex, who should look elsewhere, and how this list changes buying and selling.
For a modern Rolex, yes, pay Rolex. For a classic or vintage piece, the answer depends on whether you are keeping it, selling it, or protecting its originality.
Modern six-digit watches, use Rolex
$660 to $940 buys a full overhaul from the people who made the watch, a two-year guarantee, and a paper trail every future buyer recognizes. If the watch is still inside its five-year Rolex guarantee, outside work voids that coverage. This one is easy.
Classic five-digit watches, use Rolex and skip the polish
$990 to $1,430 stings, but Rolex service papers carry weight on these references. Our position is to decline the polish. Sharp lugs and crisp chamfers are worth more on a 16610 or a 16520 than a fresh shine, and every polish takes metal that never comes back.
Vintage four-digit watches, think before you hand it over
Rolex replaces parts that no longer meet its standards. On a modern watch, that is exactly what you want. On a vintage Submariner or Cosmograph, original parts drive a large share of the value, so read the estimate line by line and ask what is being replaced before you approve it. For the references routed to Geneva, the $2,200 analysis fee alone tells you who that service is built for.
Who should look elsewhere
Owners of an out-of-warranty five-digit watch they never plan to sell, and anyone with a modest vintage piece they wear rather than collect. A good independent watchmaker usually charges less and often works faster. You give up the Rolex guarantee and the Rolex paper trail, which is a fair trade on a watch you are keeping.
| Factor | Rolex service | Independent watchmaker |
|---|---|---|
| Base price | Published, $660 to $8,810 | Varies by shop, usually lower |
| Guarantee | Two-year international Rolex service guarantee | Shop warranty, terms vary |
| Turnaround | Minimum four to six weeks | Often shorter |
| Parts | Genuine Rolex only | Ask which parts they use |
| Paperwork for resale | Rolex service card | Shop invoice |
| Effect on Rolex guarantee | Keeps it intact | Voids any remaining coverage |
Buying or selling with this list in hand
Buying pre-owned? The list is now a negotiating tool. A five-digit Submariner with no service in the last decade is a $1,210 bill waiting to happen, before parts. Factor it into your offer, and expect the seller to know the number too.
Selling? Do not service just to sell. In our experience a fresh Rolex service rarely adds as much to an offer as it costs, and six or more weeks at the service center delays your sale. Bring it in as it is and let us price it.

Rolex service cost FAQ
How much does it cost to service a Rolex in 2026?
In the US, a complete Rolex service costs $660 for modern time and date models, $770 for modern sport models like the Submariner and GMT-Master II, and $940 for the Daytona, Sky-Dweller and other complicated models. Five-digit references cost $990 to $1,430, and four-digit vintage references cost $1,650 to $8,810. Parts outside the service and polishing are extra.
Did Rolex really publish its service prices?
Yes. In late October 2026 Rolex added a servicing prices page to Rolex.com for the first time. It lists a complete service price for every model, grouped by reference era: six-digit modern, five-digit classic and four-digit vintage.
How long does a Rolex service take?
Rolex quotes a minimum of four to six weeks for a complete overhaul, depending on the condition of the watch. Many owners wait six to twelve weeks once shipping, parts and seasonal backlogs are included. Vintage watches sent to the Rolex Restoration Atelier in Geneva can wait up to three months for the estimate alone.
Does the Rolex service price include parts?
Partly. On modern and classic watches the price includes screws, springs, wheels, lubricants, gaskets, tubes and acrylic crystals. Case and bracelet repairs and any other spare parts are charged separately. On vintage watches it includes movement wear parts when available, plus lubricants, gaskets and tubes.
How much does Rolex charge to polish a watch?
Polishing and satin-finishing the case and bracelet costs $170 on modern and classic Rolex watches and $330 on vintage four-digit references. It is optional and offered alongside a complete service.
Why does an older Rolex cost more to service than a new one?
Rolex has not given a reason. The price list charges five-digit classic watches roughly 50 to 57 percent more than the modern equivalent, so a Submariner 16610 costs $1,210 while a current Submariner costs $770. Older calibers generally take more bench time and use parts that are harder to source.
What happens if I decline the Rolex service estimate?
Estimates on modern and classic watches are free. On vintage four-digit watches Rolex charges a $280 analysis fee if you decline the service. For watches routed to the Rolex Restoration Atelier in Geneva, declining the restoration estimate costs $2,200.
How often should a Rolex be serviced?
Rolex recommends servicing approximately every 10 years, depending on the model and how the watch is worn. Watches worn hard every day, used often in salt water, or running noticeably fast or slow may need attention sooner.
