The Rolex Milgauss 116400GV is one of the most distinctive modern Rolex models, celebrated for both its scientific heritage and bold aesthetics. Introduced in 2007, this reference revived the Milgauss line, originally designed in the 1950s for scientists and engineers working in high magnetic environments. The “GV” stands for Glace Verte, a green-tinted sapphire crystal unique to Rolex, which subtly shifts the light across the dial’s surface. Its 40mm Oystersteel case houses the Caliber 3131 movement, equipped with a magnetic shield and Parachrom hairspring to withstand fields up to 1,000 gauss. The 116400GV is best recognized by its lightning bolt-shaped seconds hand—an homage to the original Milgauss—and was offered with black or Z-Blue sunburst dials, both paired with luminous Chromalight hour markers. Combining professional-grade anti-magnetic performance with playful design elements, the 116400GV became a cult favorite before being discontinued in 2023, solidifying its status as a future collectible.
