Every factory diamond Land-Dweller carries TBR in its reference, and the suffix is specific rather than decorative. It denotes a trapeze-cut diamond bezel paired with baguette-cut diamond hour markers. Those are two different cuts doing two different jobs: trapeze stones are wider at one edge and taper, which lets them sit flush around a bezel with almost no visible metal between them, while the baguettes on the dial are rectangular and read as sharp lines rather than points of light. The result is more architectural than a round brilliant setting, which is why a TBR Rolex looks structured rather than sparkly. Reading the Reference Number

The Land-Dweller reference system tells you whether a watch is gem-set before you look at it. The fourth digit gives the size, with 2 for 36mm and 3 for 40mm. The final digit gives the material, with 4 for White Rolesor, 5 for Everose gold, and 6 for platinum. The fifth digit is the one that matters here: a 3 means a fluted bezel and an 8 means a gem-set bezel. So 127235 is a 36mm Everose with a fluted bezel, and 127285TBR is the same watch with diamonds. If a seller describes a diamond Land-Dweller with a reference containing a 3 in that position, the stones did not come from Rolex.

The Four Factory Diamond References

There are exactly four. In Everose gold, reference 127285TBR is the 36mm and 127385TBR is the 40mm, both pairing an 18k Everose case with a diamond-set bezel and an intense white honeycomb dial set with diamonds. In platinum, reference 127286TBR is the 36mm and 127386TBR is the 40mm, with the ice blue honeycomb dial that Rolex reserves for the metal, also diamond-set. There Is No Steel Diamond Land-Dweller

The steel references, 127234 and 127334, exist only with a fluted bezel and a plain honeycomb dial. Any diamond-set steel Land-Dweller you encounter has been modified after it left the factory. That does not automatically make it a bad watch to wear, but it is a fundamentally different object from a TBR reference and it should be priced as one. Factory Diamonds Versus Aftermarket

A factory TBR is a distinct product with its own reference number, stones selected by Rolex for consistent colour and clarity, and a case engineered around the settings. An aftermarket piece is a standard reference that a third party has machined to accept stones, which removes metal permanently and cannot be reversed. Everose or Platinum TBR?

Everose gives you warm metal against a white diamond-set honeycomb dial, which is the higher-contrast and more overtly luxurious of the two. Neither is the obvious choice and the decision is largely aesthetic, though platinum carries the smaller buyer pool of the two and will take longer to resell.
