Buying Advice
About Purple Rolex Watches
Shop pre-owned and unworn purple Rolex watches at WatchGuys. Purple is one of the rarest dial colors in the entire Rolex catalog and appears in three distinct shades across two collections. The deep purple aubergine dial is produced on the Rolex Datejust 31mm and 36mm. The matte pastel lavender dial, new for 2025, appears on the Rolex Oyster Perpetual in 28mm through 36mm. The discontinued red grape (sometimes called purple grape) dial was produced from 2014 to 2020 on Oyster Perpetual references. Every purple Rolex at WatchGuys is authenticated by our in-house watchmakers, ships overnight, and is backed by our 2-year warranty and Buyer Protection program.
Aubergine Datejust
The aubergine dial debuted in 2018 and is exclusive to the Datejust in 31mm and 36mm. Every aubergine dial is diamond-set, typically featuring a sunray-finished deep purple surface with Roman numeral hour markers and a factory diamond-set VI marker (31mm) or diamond-set VI and IX markers (36mm). Rolex does not produce aubergine dials with smooth steel bezels. Key references include the Datejust 31 ref. 278274 (Oystersteel with white gold fluted bezel, Jubilee bracelet), the Datejust 36 ref. 126234, and precious metal variants including the 278279 (white gold President) and 278275 (Everose gold). Powered by Caliber 2236 (31mm) or Caliber 3235 (36mm).
Lavender Oyster Perpetual (2025)
Lavender is one of three new matte lacquer dial colors Rolex introduced for the Oyster Perpetual at Watches & Wonders 2025, alongside pistachio and beige. Lavender is the first matte finish in the current Oyster Perpetual generation, giving it a softer, less reflective look than the glossy 2020 lacquer dials. Available in the 28mm (ref. 276200), 31mm (ref. 277200), 34mm (ref. 124200), and 36mm (ref. 126000) sizes, all in Oystersteel with smooth bezel and Oyster bracelet. Retail prices range from $5,650 to $6,200, but early availability is limited and secondary market prices have trended above retail.
Red Grape Oyster Perpetual (Discontinued)
The red grape dial (often called purple grape) was introduced in 2014 on the 36mm Oyster Perpetual ref. 116000 and expanded in 2015 across the 26mm, 31mm, 34mm, and 39mm sizes. It was a deeper, more saturated purple than the current lavender, with a glossy lacquer finish. The 39mm Oyster Perpetual 114300 in red grape is particularly sought after by collectors because the 39mm size was discontinued in 2020. Red grape dials are no longer in production and only available on the pre-owned market.
Purple Rolex Price
Purple Rolex prices reflect rarity and reference. Pre-owned Aubergine Datejust 31mm references typically trade between $10,000 and $14,000, with precious-metal variants (Everose or white gold President) reaching $20,000 to $30,000. The Aubergine Datejust 36mm ref. 126234 generally trades between $14,000 and $18,000 depending on condition and documentation. Lavender Oyster Perpetual references retail between $5,650 and $6,200, but early unworn examples on the secondary market have listed at significant premiums due to limited availability. Discontinued red grape Oyster Perpetual references typically trade between $6,000 and $12,000, with the 39mm ref. 114300 commanding the top of that range.

Purple Rolex FAQ
-
Purple appears on two main Rolex collections. The aubergine (deep purple) dial is exclusive to the Datejust 31mm and 36mm and is always diamond-set. The lavender (matte pastel purple) dial is new for 2025 on the Oyster Perpetual in 28mm, 31mm, 34mm, and 36mm. The discontinued red grape (also called purple grape) dial was produced on the Oyster Perpetual from 2014 to 2020. Purple has never appeared on Submariner, GMT-Master II, Daytona, Day-Date, or other Rolex sport or dress collections.
-
Aubergine is Rolex's name for a deep purple dial produced on the Datejust 31mm and 36mm since 2018. Every aubergine dial is factory diamond-set, typically with Roman numeral hour markers and a large diamond-set VI marker (31mm) or diamond-set VI and IX markers (36mm). Aubergine is never paired with a smooth steel bezel because Rolex does not combine diamond dials with smooth steel bezels.
-
Yes, lavender is a pastel purple shade. Rolex introduced it in 2025 as part of a three-color matte lacquer refresh alongside pistachio and beige. The tone is softer and less saturated than the deep aubergine Datejust or the discontinued red grape Oyster Perpetual, but it sits clearly within the purple color family. It is the only current-production purple Oyster Perpetual.

Pre-owned Aubergine Datejust 31mm references typically trade between $10,000 and $14,000, with precious-metal variants reaching $20,000 to $30,000. The Aubergine Datejust 36mm ref. 126234 generally trades between $14,000 and $18,000. Lavender Oyster Perpetual references retail from $5,650 to $6,200, with early unworn secondary market examples trading above retail. Discontinued red grape Oyster Perpetual references trade between $6,000 and $12,000 depending on size and condition.

Yes. Rolex produced the red grape (purple grape) Oyster Perpetual from 2014 to 2020 and discontinued it when the Oyster Perpetual collection was refreshed with the 2020 lacquer dials (turquoise, coral red, yellow, candy pink, and green). It is now only available on the pre-owned market. The 39mm ref. 114300 is particularly sought after because the 39mm size itself was also discontinued in 2020.

Aubergine is a deep, saturated purple with a sunray finish, produced only on diamond-set Datejust references. Lavender is a soft, pastel purple with a matte lacquer finish, produced only on the Oyster Perpetual starting in 2025. Aubergine reads more formal and dressy. Lavender reads more contemporary and casual. The two dials target different shoppers at different price points within the purple Rolex category.
